A man from Springfield has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after a crash that killed a mother of two.
Court documents say Tommy Morris, Jr., was caught in a drug deal then was pursed by police until he crashed into a car driven by Dana Sowards, who died at the scene.
Morris, Jr. received an additional 20 years or two ten-year prison sentences on charges of attempting to deliver drugs, which he will serve the sentences concurrently.
Attorneys for Morris argued he tried to stop, not intending to kill Sowards.
