Springfield’s fire chief confirms one person has been found dead inside a home that caught fire Wednesday morning in the 600 block of west Atlantic in Springfield.
Flames were shooting out of the house when crews arrived around 5:30 a.m. and firefighters initially went into a defensive attack, but were eventually able to get inside the home and conduct a search.
That’s when they found the victim.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
