UPDATE: The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says inmate Nathan Sneed has been taken into custody by the sheriff’s office Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
Sneed was arrested at 11:25 p.m. Monday.
Authorities say he manipulated an eight inch section of fence, allowing him to escape.
Greene County detectives are investigating additional charges on Sneed of “escape from custody,” which is punishable by a maximum four years in prison.
The other inmate who briefly escaped, Jacob F. Atkinson, will also be facing additional charges. He was located quickly with help from the Springfield Police Department.

Greene County deputies are searching for one of two inmates who escaped from the Greene County jail in Springfield Monday evening.
The sheriff’s office says at approximately 6:36 p.m., two inmates escaped, but Springfield Police Officers were able to apprehend one of them.
Nathan Sneed is still on the run, and was last seen in the area of Cox North hospital wearing a white striped jump suit from the jail.
Sneed, who was originally arrested for third degree domestic assault, is described as white, 28 years old, approximately 5’8” and weighing 130 pounds.
Anyone who has information on Sneed or where he may be is asked to call 9-1-1.
Drury University issued a campus alert asking everyone in the area to lock their doors and stay inside.
