Charges have been filed in the disappearance of a man from Springfield.

William Skaggs and Kaleigh Pickle, both from Strafford, face charges of second-degree murder and kidnapping.

The couple were questioned in April about McReynolds’ disappearance.

Dustin Winters is jailed in a separate county, but he faces charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Authorities ruled the death of 34-year-old Elijah L. McReynolds a homicide.

McReynolds had been reported missing in July of last year.

Investigators have not found McReynolds’ body.

In August of 2019, Springfield Police Officers received information that a person may have been the victim of a homicide that had not been reported. Investigators learned the homicide occurred in Springfield in July of 2019 and the victim’s body was moved to another location. At this time the victim’s body has not been located.

The victim of the suspected homicide is Elijah L. McReynolds, a 34-year-old male from Springfield. Elijah McReynolds is currently listed as a missing person and has not been seen since July of 2019.

As this investigation progressed, more evidence and information were collected. Investigators identified several suspects involved in the homicide. On April 7, 2020, investigators arrested William A. Skaggs and Kaleigh A. Pickle of Strafford, MO. Both Skaggs and Pickle were booked into the Greene County Jail for First Degree Murder for their involvement in the crime but charges were not filed at that time. A third suspect, Dustin Winter a 30-year-old male from Springfield, was being held in the Tipton Correctional Facility in Tipton Missouri on an unrelated charge at that time.

On May 13, 2020, the Greene County Prosecutor filed charges on Skaggs and Pickle for Kidnapping and Second Degree Murder. The primary suspect in this investigation, Winter, was charged with Kidnapping, three counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence, and First Degree Murder. Winter, Skaggs, and Pickle are currently being held in the Greene County Jail with no bond.

“Hundreds of hours were put into this investigation,” said Police Chief Paul Williams. “This is a good example of the hard work and dedication of SPD detectives to seek justice for victims and I am proud of their efforts.”
