COVID-19 isn’t stopping summer nostalgia from returning as the Route 66 Drive-In Theatre in Carthage is reopening.
The venue announced opening weekend of the Drive-In movie season will take place Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10th.
Showtimes are at 8:40 pm and the gates open at 7 pm.
The pandemic forced all movie theaters to go dark in March and postponed the drive-ins original opening date of March 20th.
The Drive-In owner says Hollywood isn’t releasing new movies until mid-July but he’ll have plenty of throwbacks for viewing and the concession stand will be open.
Guidelines will be in place to ensure the safety of patrons.
Here are a few changes to note before heading to the Drive-In:
- There will be a limited number of people allowed in the concession stand and restrooms at one time.
- The playground will be closed.
- Front gate ticket sales will be through the actual ticket booth, you’ll be required to exit your vehicle and purchase your tickets from the attendant in the booth (old school way).
