After being cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, Springfield’s largest annual group event returns next March.
The National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships bring in 8,000 to 10,000 people each year, and those folks spend about $4.5 million.
More than 350 teams are part of the tournament, which has been held in Springfield since 2009.
The group is extending its contract with Springfield for another three years, through 2025.
Event organizer Tim Flatt says he’s thrilled to extend the national championship in Springfield. “It is fantastic to work with a city that appreciates what the NCHBC brings to the local community,” Flatt said.
