This is Stone County’s second confirmed case of COVID-19.

A statement from Superintendent Dr. Chris Johnson said the teacher was tested after finding out her father had contracted the virus.

She showed no symptoms and had been feeling fine, but was running a low grade fever.

Dr. Chris Johnson said they tested her because she had a fever and had been exposed to someone who had tested positive.

The health department says parents who stopped by the school to pick up packets on Friday are not at any greater risk than the general public, and are not recommending that any parents take extra precautions or self-quarantine unless they develop symptoms.

12 other staff members are in self-quarantine, following advice recommended by health officials.

As of now, packet pick-up for the high school and meal delivery will continue for the entire district, however the schools will not be providing packets for elementary school students for at least two weeks.
