Now that morning storms have moved out of the Ozarks, we should stay dry for the rest of your Wednesday, but several periods of rain are expected over the next week.

The National Weather Service says more showers and storms will develop Thursday morning, and spread east across the Ozarks, with lightning and small hail the main hazards.

Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop Thursday afternoon and early evening as a cold front moves through.

A few strong to severe storms are possible, mainly south and east of Springfield, with large hail and damaging winds.

Additional chances for rain and thunderstorms will occur Friday night into Saturday and again early next week.

Forecasters say rainfall amounts will range from three to six inches, with locally higher amounts possible.

There will be an increasing flooding risk as we get into next week if we see that repeated rainfall.
