Local Fire Districts from Marshfield to Strafford to Rogersville and 911 call centers report dozens of calls saying a heavy smoke has settled over the area.

The smoke is coming from a 6000 acre controlled burn by the Forest Service happening in Taney County, near the Mark Twain National Forest.

Low vent rates are causing that smoke to sink down instead of dissipate into the atmosphere.

There is no immediate danger to anyone, though if you have asthma or difficulty breathing, this may cause a hazard for you.
