A homicide suspect in Greene County is now facing a variety of charges after leading law enforcement on a pursuit through Newton County.
The man abandoned a car off Highway 86 and Shannon Springs Road Friday night, and was later arrested with the help of a Greene County K9, who the suspect assaulted.
Deputies say the man slammed a door on the dog, who was still able to detain the suspect until authorities could get to him.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was treated and released from a local hospital, and is being held in the Lawrence County jail on a separate warrant.
