Missouri State says it plans to keep Bears head football coach Dave Steckel next season.
Coach Steckel’s contract runs through the end of 2021.
He’s 13 and 42 in 5 seasons with the Bears.
Here’s more from Missouri State:
Missouri State University’s Director of Athletics Kyle Moats issued the following statement Wednesday (Nov. 27) related to the university’s decision to retain head football coach Dave Steckel.
“As is always part of our process after each season, I met with Stec late Tuesday to discuss the future of our program. At that time, he presented his plan for next season and beyond, which I shared with President Clif Smart.
Even though there are a number of areas we agree need immediate improvement, we are in agreement that the prudent course of action is to push forward with our commitment to Stec and this team. Getting our football program turned in the right direction remains a priority for the university, and we expect our commitment to this staff to be rewarded with results on the field.”
Steckel was named as Missouri State’s 20th head football coach on Dec. 14, 2014 and remains under contract through the end of 2021.
