Police say a man hit by a car near downtown Springfield is in critical condition.

Officers say the pedestrian was hit at Chestnut Expressway and Sherman around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the driver is cooperating in the investigation.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.
