An 18-year-old woman from Bolivar has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault after prosecutors say she caused a car crash that killed a girl.
Mikaila Koch hit an SUV ahead of her, causing the car to go off the road and hit a guardrail. The impact killed an 11-year-old girl and wounded another passenger.
The crash happened on Highway 65 and Division in east Springfield in May. Prosecutors say data from Koch’s car shows she was going 81 mph.
