Woman Sentenced 20 Years in Case Involving Officer’s Death

A woman faces 20 years in prison for killing a police officer in Clinton.

Tammy Widger was convicted of 2nd-degree murder on Friday in connection to the death of Christopher Ryan Morton. Morton was killed when he went inside Widger’s house by mistake, thinking there was a 911 call from the residence.

A convicted felon named James Waters in the home opened fire and killed Morton. Widger said that she didn’t know Waters was still in her house and she though he had slipped out the back door.
