A crash occurred on Glenstone and Kearney this evening that lead police to block off all four roads leading to the intersection.
Authorities received a report of a vehicle driving carelessly with another vehicle on its trailer near the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. Certain reports said the vehicle was ignoring red lights and driving on crosswalks.
Greene County Deputies were dispatched and pursued the vehicle near Highway WW, where the truck was reportedly involved in several crashes. The Highway Patrol assisted in tracking the vehicle with a helicopter. Several deputies saw the speeding truck and attempted to pursue but called off the pursuit while traffic prevented them.
The helicopter continued to pursue. The truck eventually crashed into a car not involved with the chase and was totaled by the impact. The driver tried to get away but was stopped by the Springfield Police Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple fatalities have been confirmed.
