As the heat wave is pushed out by the cold front moving into southwest Missouri, the likelihood of storms developing increases.

Doug Cramer, a Meteorologist at the National Weather Service, says they are watching as the storms develop in the southeast Kansas area and move into Missouri.

Some of the storms will be capable of producing straight-line 60-65 mph damaging winds and penny to quarter sized hail. They will likely continue to get stronger as the evening progresses and will probably continue overnight.

Cramer says that those participating in outdoor activities such as camping and boating should be forewarned as thunderstorms will become numerous into the overnight hours.
