Organization in Springfield Says ‘No More Trash Bag Moves’ For Foster Kids

Research says on average, 250,000 kids will go into state custody this year in the United States.

Most kids will move to a different home at least 8 times, and 85 percent of those moves will be done using trash bags.

Chairman Rob Frank with Foster TV in Springfield is doing something about it.

“We’re going to give back 1,000 duffel bags by August 1st to the local area and a year from now we’ve dedicated 4,000 to give back to case workers and agencies that take care of foster kids,” says Frank.

The organization lends help and support to foster families and provides resources to the foster community.

Frank has adopted 10 kids.

“One of our older boys said it was really degrading and uncomfortable to move to a place he didn’t know and have to bring all his personal belongings and things in trash bags and grocery sacks,” said Frank.

In the United States, there’s almost 440,000 kids in foster care and about 700 become part of the foster care system per day.
