If you want to avoid a ticket next time you’re in West Plains, you should wear your seat belt.
The West Plains City Council unanimously approved a new ordinance on Monday a Primary Violation of the law. This would allow officers to pull you over and give you a ticket if they see you driving without a seat belt.
The council voted for the bill because they say evidence shows seat belts save lives, and only 75% of people that were observed wore seat belts.
The fine is currently set to 10 dollars.
