  • Winter Storm To Dump Accumulating Snow In The Ozarks

Dangerous travel conditions are expected in the Ozarks on Sunday as a winter storm brings accumulating snow as well as a chance for sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm watch has been issued for areas along and north of I-44 from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon.

Total snow accumulations of six to eight inches will be possible north of a line from Bolivar to Rolla.

South of this line, along I-44 and just north of Highway 60, snow accumulations of three to five inches are expected, along with sleet up to two tenths of an inch and a light glaze of ice.

Near the Arkansas border, two to three inches of snow are expected.

The other element that will make this storm even more dangerous is the fact very cold temperatures are expected from late this weekend into early next week.

Overnight lows will drop into the single digits to near zero, with wind chills ranging from -5 to -15 degrees at times.
