There’s always a need for help with first responders and Christian County is starting a new program to ensure a safe community.
The first ever Christian County Fire Academy will be a series of five classes throughout the county and will be free, with all equipment included.
The Sparta fire chief, who’s been a volunteer since 2005, says there’s always a need for more help.
Currently volunteer firefighters cover Highlandville, Spokane, Saddlebrook, Clever, Billings, and Chadwick.
The series of five classes will start with basic firefighter and go all the way up to driving emergency vehicles.
The classes will start March 26, the deadline to sign up is March 15 and there is a 25 person cap.
