Springfield Representative Files ‘Hailey’s Law’ For 3rd Time

For the third year in a row, Springfield State Representative Curtis Trent has filed a bill that would make changes to the Amber Alert system in Missouri.

Hailey’s Law is named after Hailey Owens, who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered in 2014.

Craig Wood was sentenced to death for killing her.

Trent tells Missourinet that the House and Senate approved Hailey’s Law the past two years – but not the same version.

His bill requires Missouri’s Amber Alert System Oversight Committee to meet at least once a year.
