Mercy and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield have announced the 23rd Annual Steak & Steak speaker will be Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Next year’s Steak & Steak will be on April 9, 2019. The dinner will raise critical funding to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield and more than 2,500 registered members served each year.

Many of these young people come from disadvantaged circumstances and look to the Club as an important stabilizing force in their lives.

The Steak & Steak dinner helps bridge the gap between the $45 Club members pay each semester and the more than $1,000 it costs to provide programs to them.

A volunteer with the organization says 90% of tickets are already sold. He couldn’t confirm whether more will be added.

Guest speakers from past years include: Nick Saban, Tony La Russa, Lance Armstrong, Drew Brees, Roy Williams, Bob Gibson, Coach Bob Knight, Tony Gonzales, Dick Vitale, Bill Russell, Mike Ditka, Dick Vermeil, Johnny Bench, Archie and Peyton Manning, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Brett Favre, Kurt Warner Alex Smith, and Travis Kelce.

The first Steak & Burger Dinner was held in 1997. The event has raised critical funding for children in our community for many years.
