Just in time for Thanksgiving weekend, lower gas prices, and a local economics professor thinks they may stick around for awhile.
Drury University’s Steven Mullins tells KY3 analysts who watch crude oil prices expect the national average to drop to $2.25 per gallon in the next couple of weeks.
Eventually, in states like Missouri where prices are traditionally lower, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded could even dip below $2.00.
The average household would save about $40 per month if the trend continues.
Mullins says there’s been about a 25% decrease in crude oil prices, which ultimately translate to what you pay at the pump.
