Texas County has a new sheriff after an investigation led to the arrest of Sheriff James Sigman last week.
The Texas County Commission named Rowdy Douglas the new sheriff.
Douglas had served as a detective at the sheriff’s office before being appointed.
He will assume the duties after the November 2018 election.
Sheriff James Sigman and his chief deputy Lieutenant Jennifer Tomaszewski were arrested last Wednesday after being charged with felony assault, felony first-degree robbery, felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, felony second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony harassment, misdemeanor misuse of official information by a public servant, and misdemeanor false impersonation charges.
No other details have been released about the crimes Sigman and Tomaszewski committed.
