Sparklers Are The Big Safety Issue On The Fourth Of July

The state advises adults and children to be cautious with the use of sparklers when celebrating Independence Day.

Missouri Fire Marshall Tim Bean tells the Missourinet that sparklers send more people to the hospital than other fireworks.

Bean says if you do no where it’s legal, make sure you find a relatively wet spot without much vegetation.

He recommends checking out professional fireworks shows to stay safe.

Personal fireworks, including sparklers, are not allowed in many local towns, including the larger cities of St. Louis and Kansas City as well Springfield, Columbia and Jefferson City.
