Southern Illinois Leads MSU Bears 33-25 At Halftime

The Southern Illinois Salukis take a 33-25 lead into the half over the Missouri State Bears at JQH Arena in Springfield.

Barry Hinson's Salukis grabbed a 7-5 lead when Mike Rodriguez drained a three pointer at the 16:46 mark, and after Jarred Dixon got a bucket for the Bears to tie the score, SIU regained the lead 9-7 on Sean Lloyd's shot with 15:22 left in the half.

The Salukis have yet to trail since that time, building up a ten point lead with just under five minutes left in the half.

Ryan Kreklow has six points to lead Missouri State, and Dequon Miller, who didn't start after being late to the team shoot-around, has scored five points.

Rodriguez has 11 points to lead the Salukis, who have made 9 of 10 free throws despite shooting only 39% from the field.

The Bears come into the game 11-5 overall, 2-1 in the Valley, while Southern Illinois is 9-7, 2-1.

Missouri State announced before the game that junior guard Ronnie Rousseau III will miss additional time away from the team due to personal reasons.

Head Coach Paul Lusk says Rousseau hasn't done anything wrong on or off the court, and is in good academic standing.
