Police, Bomb Squad Involved In Standoff

Springfield Police were called to a standoff near Division and Franklin.

Officers got a call to a home around 4 p.m. One man was reportedly suicidal and was believed to have a firearm and some type of explosive device.

The man's relatives called police after he said he was armed. Everyone else in the house made it out safely and police surrounded the home.

The Springfield Fire Department's Bomb Squad was also on scene. 

The man surrendered peacefully about 5:15 p.m.and did not have any weapons or explosive devices.

Because of his suicidal threats, he was taken to the hospital for observation.
