A community came together in mourning tonight to honor a fallen Greene County deputy.
Several hundred people showed to a candlelight vigil was held outside the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for Deputy, Aaron Roberts.
Roberts was responding to a call around 8 p.m. Friday when fast rising water in Fair Grove swept away his car into the Pomme De Terre River.
Dozens of police officers, firefighters, and emergency responders came to aid in the search.
But searchers found his body a few hours later.
Deputy Roberts, 36, had worked for the Greene County Sheriff's Office for a little more than a year.
