Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board held a news conference in Branson Friday night.
Over the next few days The NTSB will be interviewing survivors and witnesses.
Investigators will be in Branson for the next 10 days.
It will be months before a preliminary report is ready.
And it will take investigators about a year to release an official cause of the crash to the public.
Missouri Senator Roy Blunt released the following statement regarding the NTSB investigation:
“This is a tragedy that never should have happened. I am closely monitoring the investigation to determine how the Coast Guard and the operator responded to previous NTSB recommendations. Based on the findings of the investigation and any new recommendations, I stand ready to pursue whatever action is necessary to keep this from happening again.”
