Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance

Flags flew high, wreaths were laid across the ground, and the national anthem filled the air for Memorial Day at the Klinger-Cope cemetery in Springfield.

The Springfield Civil Air Patrol did a posting of the nation's colors.

People thanked veterans and remembered those who died while serving our country during the event.

Students reflected on what they believe the true meaning of Memorial Day is by writing essays.

Four students were awarded a cash prize for their essays.

The event was free to the public.
