Police have cleared the scene around a house on Fremont north of Kearney in Springfield after a man was shot in the leg.
Lt. Tony Vienhage with the Springfield Police Department says a person in the area called 911 after finding a man with a gunshot wound to the leg Wednesday morning.
The victim says before the shooting he had walked up to a house nearby because he thought he saw property that belonged to him.
Police aren’t sure who fired the shot. Officers tried to get anyone inside the home to come out, but after hours on scene they called it off.
No one was arrested. The victims injuries were non-life threatening.
Lt. Vienhage says a detective has been assigned to the investigation to follow up.
