Man Sentenced To 20 Years For Beating Death In Taney County

A man from Highlandville is going to prison for 20 years for beating another man, who later died.

Mark Bailey made an Alford plea in January to the class A felony of murder in the second degree, the class B felony of kidnapping, and the class C felony of felonious restraint.

The plea doesn’t admit guilt, but means he realizes there’s enough evidence for a conviction.

Prosecutors say in November of 2015, Bailey assisted Brandy Shaddox in purchasing zip ties at a local home improvement store. The two then drove Larry Adams from Hollister, to a remote location off Highway 65 in Walnut Shade, Missouri. Prosecutors say they left the victim bound in a car.

Adams died of hypothermia after being abandoned by Bailey and Shaddox.

Brandy Shaddox faces a first-degree murder charge, and will go to trial in Lawrence County later this month.
