A man from Republic has died from a fatal stabbing at a house in Republic.
Officers were called to a home on Brooks and Main after someone reported a man had been stabbed in the chest.
Police say Bill A. Dauzat, a 56-year-old from Republic, was taken to a hospital in Springfield and later died.

On Saturday, September 23rd at approximately 1:30 p.m., Republic Police Department responded to the area of 300 S. Main Street in reference to a check well-being call. Upon arrival, Officers located a male subject in the carport area of the residence with multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as:
Bill A. Dauzat - 56 years old of Republic, Missouri.
Investigators have conducted several interviews and will be continuing exhaustive investigation until such a time we have identified and captured the individual or individuals responsible for this crime. If you have any information that might assist with the investigation, the Republic Police Department urges you to call 9-1-1.
The Republic Police Department believes this is an isolated incident, but will ask all residents of Republic to stay attentive and report any and all suspicious activity.
