Power Back On After Outage Caused By Crash In West Springfield

UPDATE: Power was restored to most of the homes and businesses by midnight. 

Authorities say a car crashed into a power pole at Mt. Vernon and Lexington just after 9 p.m. Sunday, causing the outage. 

Police had to direct traffic at Kansas Expressway and Mt. Vernon during the outage.

Hundreds of power outages are being reported throughout Springfield.

Over 700 City Utilities customers are reporting the power being out near Grant Avenue and Chestnut Expressway, represented in orange on the City Utilities map.

About 20 others, are also reporting no power.

City Utilities posted on Facebook that crews are working on an outage caused by a vehicle hitting a pole.

City Utilities says the estimated time of restoration to these areas is around 1:15 a.m.
