Hail, Heavy Rain Prompts Severe Weather On Easter Sunday

Sleet and hail was seen falling around the Springfield metro Sunday afternoon while a band of storms made their way through the Ozarks.

A severe thunderstorm warning lasts until 1:45 p.m. for southern Webster County and Wright County.

A strong cell carrying quarter-size hail was reported falling in areas around Fordland and Seymour.

A Go Patrol Spotter says hail was covering Highway 60 in Seymour, making it slick for drivers and backing up traffic.

A heavy cell around Republic dropped pea-size hail across Republic, Nixa and Springfield before 1 p.m.

Authorities urge you to be careful if you are driving and allow time to stop and slow down.

As the temperature continues to linger around freezing, the National Weather Service says we can expect more sleet and freezing rain into this evening.
