Greene County's prosecutor filed a second-degree murder charge in the death of a woman from Nixa in a crash Tuesday.
Tommy Morris Jr., 54, remains in the Greene County Jail.
Police say they pursued Morris after he struck a man pushing a shopping cart in the parking lot of a Price Cutter at Chestnut and West Bypass. Police say they then lost sight of him in the pursuit.
Officers tried to relocate Morris, but didn't come across him again until they arrived at the scene of the crash. Three other vehicles were involved, one hit t-bone style.
Dana Nichole Sowards, 31, of Nixa, was trapped in the wreckage and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Morris also faces charges of attempting to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
