A lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union is seeking to have Missouri’s new voter ID law thrown out.
33 states have enacted some form of a voter ID law in recent years after GOP lawmakers argued there was a need for protection against voter fraud.
Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft tells the Missournet that he's adamant that the phenomenon exists and is a problem in Missouri.
The ACLU and other opponents of voter ID laws claim voter fraud is practically nonexistent.
The next hearing in the lawsuit could take place later this month in Jefferson City.
