Join Firefighters and civilians from all over the United States of America for the Virtual 8th Annual 9/11 Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb, going on September 11th – 12th.
Friday, September 11th and 12th Firefighters and civilians from all over will be joining us virtually to remember those lost on September 11, 2001.
As the coronavirus has swept the country, we have made the decision to hold the event virtually this year. We invite the entire community to join us virtually and participate in the Eighth Annual Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb. The Memorial Stair Climb is a virtual commemorative climb to honor the 343 members of the Fire Department of New York who died on September 11, 2001.
Registered participants are encouraged to virtually climb, walk, run, or bike a total of 110 stories, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers. We are encouraging registered participants to complete the climb September 11- 12, 2020. We will be live on Facebook Saturday, September 12, 2020 for those who would like to join us and follow along. Registered participants have until December 31, 2020 to fund raise and complete the virtual climb. Registration is $35.00. As part of registration the participants are asked to raise additional funds for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF.) Last year, registered climbers have raised over $40,000 for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. All registration fees will be directed to the NFFF to assist the surviving families and coworkers of those firefighters killed on September 11, 2001.
Registration for this event begins on August 1st. Find out how to register and get more details when you visit the Springfield Area Memorial Stair Climb Facebook Page.
