(KTTS News) — A state House lawmaker from the Ozarks is running for Missouri treasurer.
Cody Smith of Carthage has served in the House since 2016.
He serves as the House budget chairman.
He will face off against incumbent Vivek Malek in the Republican primary.
Malek was appointed to the office by Governor Parson.
Franklin County financial advisor Lucas Johnson has filed to run on the Democratic ticket.
