The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Dade County.
The Dade County Sheriff asked for the investigation after Gary Deering was shot and killed by a deputy last week near Stockton Lake.
KY3 reports Deering’s sister asked for authorities to check on the him because he wasn’t acting like himself that day.
Deering and his sister were doing volunteer work at the lake.
Authorities have not released any information about the investigation.
Deering was a Vietnam veteran who suffered from PTSD.
He did have a gun in his vehicle.
But family members say he always made sure he let deputies know it was there.
