(KTTS News) — Work on the Jefferson Avenue Streetscape project is underway in downtown Springfield.
The west side of the St. Louis and Jefferson intersection will close for three weeks so crews can install a new traffic light and make pedestrian upgrades.
One southbound lane of Jefferson will be shifted to the east side of the road between St. Louis and McDaniel.
The Jefferson Avenue Streetscape project will extend the downtown streetscape look along Jefferson Avenue between St. Louis and Walnut streets.
Construction should be finished by August at a cost of $1.8 million.
Funding is through the ¼-cent Capital Improvement and 1/8-cent Transportation sales taxes.
