I’ve gone to Eminence to float the Jack’s Fork and the Current a bunch of times, but never took time to visit historic Alley Spring Mill. From nps.gov …   A mill was vital to community life, where grain was ground to provide the daily bread. The present building was constructed during 1893-1894 by George Washington McCaskill as a merchant mill. It was larger than most mills in the Jacks Fork area and replaced an earlier mill on this same site that was built by 1868

The scenic Alley Mill, or “Old Red Mill” is located on a spring and is in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.

Along with floating the rivers, there is a whole lot more to see and do around the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Don’t forget a drive thru Peck Ranch to try to spot some elk. Watch for the wild horses. Saw them at Echo Bluff campground. Take a long weekend and head that way. Way cool.
