Springfield Couple Sentenced For Jan. 6 Insurrection

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri couple who participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol apologized and said they got caught up in the crowd and former President Donald Trump’s urging them to march that day.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta on Thursday sentenced Zachary Wilson to 45 days of home detention and Kelsey Wilson to 30 days, along with 60 hours of community service.

They also must each pay $500 in restitution for damage done to the Capitol.

The couple, from Springfield, were sentenced for a misdemeanor charge of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.
