Scattered Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain, Low Severe Thunderstorm Risk Saturday Night

The National Weather Service says to expect a scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain Saturday evening.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Mark Burchfield says storms will be coming from the north, around the Kansas City area, and move south into the KTTS listening area. Severe thunderstorms will be possible, but not widespread.

Thunderstorms are likely going to develop Saturday afternoon and evening, around St. Clair and Benton counties, and then continue south through the rest of the evening and overnight hours.

“There will be scattered thunderstorms, but no solid line,” Burchfield says, adding there will be some heavy rain but isolated flooding risks.

One to two inches of rain are the estimated maximum.

The NWS cautions those camping, on lakes and rivers to be aware of lightning risks.

These storms will continue through the early morning Sunday. The rest of Sunday will be dry, with clear skies, and highs in the middle eighties.

“A drier air mass, so somewhat more comfortable,” says Burchfield.
