The City of Springfield will officially transition to phase “yellow” on its Road to Recovery Friday.
Face coverings and masks will still be required in most public places, and it will remove occupancy restrictions except for in areas for ‘enhanced risk activities.’ These are defined as any business or non-business activity that enhances the risk of the spread.
- Entertainment, movies, concerts, and live performances, dancing, arcades, gaming, bowling, and billiards and pool.
- Exhibitions and museums;
- Fitness classes;
- Conferences, seminars;
- Religious services;
- Bars, nightclubs, and brewery taprooms.
Seating will be restricted in enhanced risk activities, where more than 500 people will be sitting within six feet of each other for more than 15 minutes. In those cases, occupancy will be restricted to 50%, or to 500 people, whichever is greater.
The mayor says this is a step forward and a symbol of progress. The ordinance for stepping out restrictions says that once two out of three thresholds are met, the yellow phase was automatically set to begin.
- Under 40 cases a day.
- Under 50 individuals hospitalized for at least 28 days.
- 25% of the Greene County population 16 and older vaccinated.
As of Friday, the Springfield City Council has determined that the stipulations for the yellow phase have been met.
“Now we set our sights on moving into the ‘green’ phase, where all restrictions are lifted,” said Mayor McClure in a City press release, “Our return to normalcy is incumbent upon individuals receiving the vaccine.”
Stipulations on advance to the ‘green’ phase include:
- 50% of those 16 or older in Greene County vaccinated;
- A daily rolling case average fewer than 20;
- Fewer than 20 hospitalizations for at least 28 days.
