Springfield Tenants Hold Rally At City Hall, Ask For Tenant’s Bill of Rights

Springfield Tenants Unite is demanding a tenant’s bill of rights from the city council. Springfield Tenants Unite, or STUN, held a rally outside of the historic City Hall on Saturday.

The group is asking for a tenant’s bill of rights similar to what passed in Kansas City in 2019. STUN requests the city and its elected officials help working families by passing the bill of rights.

Tenant leader Victoria Altic spoke during the rally, saying, “We are here today to build and express solidarity with one another, and to demand that city council take action to protect Springfield tenants.” STUN says their goal is “anything radical” and they are simply asking city leaders and elected officials protect working families.

Two candidates for City Council General Seat A also attended the rally, both Justin Burnett and Randy Allen.
