The Southwest Power Pool raised the Emergency Alert Level back to Level 2 Wednesday night.
It was lowered back to Level 1 at mid-day after strains on the electric grid were reduced.
Level 1 is the normal level.
Springfield City Utilities says the change doesn’t necessarily trigger rolling blackouts, but it does mean the regional electric system is nearing peak demand.
CU is urging customers to do what they can to reduce energy usage until the crisis is over.
**Update: As of 2/17 at 6:45 p.m., SPP has resumed the Energy Emergency Alert to Level 2. Please continue conservation…
