Missouri lawmakers are advancing a bill to ban police from using federal laws to take away people’s guns.
The GOP-led House gave the bill initial approval Wednesday.
Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott says some of the language he was concerned about has been removed.
He’s still working with local lawmakers on the Second Amendment Preservation Act.
The previous bills would have prevented Missouri law enforcement officers from keeping their jobs if they enforced federal gun laws.
The revisions would still leave police departments open to lawsuits if officers take away guns based on federal laws.
