Missouri Man Charged With Murder, Arson In Deadly House Fire

WESTON, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man has been accused of setting a house fire that left a man dead, officials said Monday.

Anthony Fleming, 24, of Weston, Missouri was charged with murder and arson related to the Sunday morning fire in the Kansas City suburb of Weston, according to a news release from Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd.

The blaze killed 60-year-old Timothy Darby, whose body was found in the kitchen, the Kansas City Star reported.

Fleming is accused of setting the home on fire between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Sunday before fleeing the property. He was found in a wooded area about a mile away, wearing only socks. Fleming had tried to hide from authorities using a wall of sticks and tree limbs, according to charging documents.

When police found him, “Fleming had soot all over him and numerous injuries on his hands and body,” court documents read.
