Four people are in the Stone County Jail charged with locking a four-year-old boy in a wooden crate on Highway-K in Billings.
The boy was found unresponsive and later airlifted to a Kansas City hospital.
Authorities say he was suffering from physical abuse and extreme malnutrition.
Charges have been filed against 26-year-old Dessa Barton, 26-year-old Dalton McLendon, 52-year-old Richard Hilliker, and 53-year-old Katherine Kost.
They’re all charged with endangering the welfare of a child and abuse or neglect of a child.
